Sheikh Mahmud & Malai Ayla

When both the bride and groom are Arab descendants, it becomes more than just any special occasion. The Bride, Malai Ayla Surya, the groom, Sheikh Mahmud Sufian were united as husband and wife on Friday, March 16, 2007. Their wedding reception was held on Sunday, March 25, 2007 at the Orchid Garden Hotel.

The bride started her Friday morning by getting groomed by a well-known make-up artist in the wedding industry, Ms. Hajah Zaleha for the first ceremony of the day, Majlis Mandi berbedak. The Bride dressed in a white baju kurung, with her torso wrapped in an exquisite blood red jongsarat (traditionally woven material with gold thread), complete with the traditional accessories and headgear, sat in the middle of the room while close relatives, uncles, aunties, granduncles and grandaunts proceeded with the powdering ritual and applying it to the forehead of the bride.

Upon completion of the Mandi Berbedak, the Bride carried on with her preparation for her Solemnization (Nikah) ceremony. She wore a beautiful embroided white lace 'baju fesyen' with her hair in ringlets set to the side. And to top it off, she wore three yellow roses in her hair and of course the final touch, the tiara.

As the bride continued to get ready, friends, cousins, relatives arrived and one by one, came into the room to look at the bride in awe. Amongst the guests was Jenny Malai Ali, one of Kristal FM's popular DJ's and to not mention also, a newly wed. Another public figure was Diana Latip, a local singer.

The bride and groom also celebrated their bersanding ceremony as well as their thanksgiving ceremony at Orchid Garden Hotel.

Edly & Liza

A series of beautiful pictures of a gorgeous couple who recently tied the knot, Mr.Edly & Ms.Liza. A very loving and happy couple indeed. Their pictures tell it all.

The bride wore white laced baju fesyen complete with a matching headscarf (tudong) and to top it off, a simple yet elegant white gold tiara with diamonds. Her bouquet consisted of real white roses with purple flowers. The ceremony started off with the Hantar Berian Ceremony and while the bride's gifts for the groom were magnificently arranged on golden trays, the Groom's gifts for the Bride, took a more modern approach. All the gifts were beautifully decorated in red leather boxes of different sizes.

As the Groom sat in the middle of the room in front of the Imam taking his vows, the bride sat patiently and listened tentatively to the words exchanged by her groom and the Imam. Upon solemnization, the Groom joined his bride on the wedding stage (pelamin) and sat side by side for the first time as husband and wife. The wedding stage was a sight for sore eyes, with the colour cream as their theme and silver carvings in the background. Both newly-weds looking stunning just sitting there.

This handsome couple did their Majlis Malam Berbedak together and they both wore the traditional wedding attire which is normally used. They both wore matching orange songket which was a lovely contrast with the cream pelamin. The bride wore a traditional baju kurung with her torso wrapped in red songket. She looked absolutely astonishing when she was completely dressed in the traditional wedding accessories and headgear. Her shoes were red sequined court shoes.

Edly and Liza's bersanding took place at the International Convention Centre. Their wedding stage was beautifully decorated in yellow and gold which proved to blend well with the newly weds wedding attire. Their colour theme of that day was green. The Bride wore her green songket with gold thread in the style of a gown and on top of it a lime green baju kebaya in chiffon material. She had a colourful combination of roses as her bouquet. She wore gold and emerald jewels to complete her attire. While the newly-weds and their guests proceeded with dinner, they were entertained by a dance performance. Their official photographer was the well known photographer, David Cheok and amongst the guests was Rano Iskandar from ranoadidas.com.
